If you would imagine the most viewed “Saturday Night Live” sketches of all time, certain characters would probably stand up in me. Mike Myers and Dana Carvey’s Wayne and Garth would probably make that hypothetical list, just like the Coneheads, the Blues Brothers and maybe even MacGruber. But when you actually look through the songs of the “SNL” YouTube page, that’s not what you think.
In general, the most viewed “SNL” sketches are usually much more modern. That is not entirely surprising, given that, in general, videos released after the start of the internet age tend to be viewed more broadly. But although the oldest sketch on this curve took place in season 29, this compilation still serves as a celebration of some of the best artists of the NBC show.
Internet Savvy viewers can note that a surprising name is missing in this compilation: The Lonely Island. To keep this ranking relatively fair, TheWRAP only achieved videos from the official “SNL” YouTube page instead of filling with related pages such as the Andy Samberg LED trio. Just know that if videos of the Lonely Island -channel were on this list, they would occupy the first nine places (“I just had sex” for “I am on a boat”, honey). So without further delay, take a tour of the sketches that the world cannot stop watching.
1. “Porner teacher”
Season 41
Although the character of Amy Schumer is perhaps the best, this sketch of 2015 is Aidy Bryant. After far too much double income, a number of terrible acting and suitable granular camera work, a porn star that occurs as a teacher (Schumer) is ready to teach her student (Kyle Moeney) a lesson. But all that sexiness disappears when Bryant comes in the class as a true high school student who needs a legitimate help when studying. The title “Porno teacher” is perhaps the reason why this sketch is viewed the most, but it is Bryant’s expertise in playing a clueless -child that makes it worthwhile.
2. “Black Jeopardy with Tom Hanks”
Season 42
Tom Hanks is of course part of one of the most viewed sketches of all time. When Hanks’ Doug enters the stage to play ‘Black Jeopardy’, the tension can be felt. But the longer the southern, Maga Hat-bearing Doug plays, the better he does to the joy of his fellow participants and host Darnell Hayes (Kenan Thompson). Somehow the sketch succeeds in making gloomy jokes like ‘they have already decided who wins [the election] Even before it happens’ in a surprisingly healthy reflection on how even the most politically opposite in America is not so different. That is at least the case for a while.
3. “Harry Potter: Hermione Growth”
Season 29
It is the start of another school year at Hogwarts, and Harry (Rachel Dratch) and Ron (Seth Meyers) are enthusiastic to see their friend Hermione (Lindsay Lohan) again. But when she appears in a low -cut school uniform that really shows off all the ways in which she – there – is developed, nobody can keep their calmness. “Hermione Growth” is really a sketch of one joke. But the seriousness of Lohan in combination with dirty looks in this children’s series ensures that that one joke works.
4. “Spider-man kiss”
Season 39
You can argue about who is the best Spider-Man, but there is no argument about the best spider’s Couple. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone prove that precisely in this sketch from 2014. After ending the latest scene of his film, the director of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (Taran Killam) asks his two stars to kiss . The only problem? It is unclear whether Garfield of Stone has ever seen a normal human kiss in their lives. Prepare for some gross mouthwork and a surprising appearance of coldplay lead singer Chris Martin.
5. “Star Wars: Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base”
Season 41
Some actors just understand ‘Saturday night live’ and Adam Driver is one of them. In the first part of this recurring sketch, the ‘Star Wars’ character of the driver Kylo Ren goes on the reality show ‘Undercover Boss’ to see what his employees really think of him and how his Starkiller works. It does not take long before his anger, intensity and obsessive questions about Kylo Ren give him away. This sketch shows the remarkable capacity of the driver to stay emotionally present and to be in character, regardless of how stupid the situation.
6. “Close meetings”
Season 41
Lorne Michaels can hate when artists break during his sketches, but this is one of the best examples of all time of inappropriate laughter that adds to a sketch. Three people – Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and Ryan Gosling – are taken by the American government to describe their recent kidnapping of alien beings. But it is not long before it becomes clear that the kidnapping of McKinnon was a bit different than theirs. Between Kcinnon feels strong and her cigarette walks around, it is not long before Gosling gets a case of giggling. Almost everyone on stage joins him towards the end of the sketch.
7. “Celebrity Jeopardy! Kathie Lee, Tom Hanks, Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds ”
Season 34
Will Ferrell’s “Celebrity Jeopardy” bit is so loved that it actually scored two places on this list. This 2009 episode is just a great example of the sketch; It is not overloaded or overly ridiculous and every famous impression is solid. Kristen Wiig plays Kathie Lee Gifford, while Darrell Hammond and the late norm return MacDonald to play Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds respectively. But the real star of the show is Tom Hanks who plays a version of himself that has no idea, he doesn’t even understand the joke of Alex Trebek (Ferrell) (Ferrell).
8. “SNL40: Celebrity Jeopardy”
Season 40
The 40 -year anniversary “SNL” show contained one of the most overly filled sketches that the series ever produced. But the more manic this sketch of 2015 became, the more it worked in one way or another, and changed to “Celebrity Jeopardy” as a tribute as much as another episode of the long -term sketch. In addition to Stustgasten such as Ferrell, Hammond and Macdonald, the 40th version of the Kate McKinnon sketch contained Justin Bieber, Taran Killam as Christoph Waltz, Jim Carrey as Matthew McConaughey, Alec Baldwin as Tony Bennett and Kenan Thompson as an relevant Bill.
9. “New Disney film”
Season 40
Have you ever wanted to see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shooting in the hunters while you were dressed like a cute deer? Not really? Well, now you can. In the aftermath of “Maleficent” and “Cinderellae”, “SNL” had an idea for a brand new live promotion Disney film: “Bambi” inspired by “Fast and Furious”. The ridiculous trailer had everything you would like from a too serious adjustment, to Tyrese Gibson (Jay Pharoah) such as Flower and Michelle Rodriguez (strong) as “Girl Bambi.”
10. “Sean Spicer -press conference”
Season 42
Sean Spicer may have only served Donald Trump’s press secretary for seven months, but Melissa McCarthy made him immortal. Filled with dollies and gradually crazy ways to attack reporters from the White House, the sketch now feels just as spooky relevant as when it was originally broadcast eight years ago. But perhaps the best moment happens in this first sketch thanks to the studio audience. Shortly after McCarthy comes out, more and more waves of people can be heard, sniffing and cheering while they realize who this Trump administration plays Lackey.
