A unique mix of Japanese and American muscles.
Since Dodge unlocked the supercharged V8 of the Hellcat in the world, enthusiasts have eagerly changed it in different vehicles. Most of these projects include other Mopar muscle cars, although a few non-Chrysler vehicles such as the Buick Grand National have also received the Hellcat treatment. However, this can be the first copy of a Hellcat engine that is dropped in an FD Mazda RX-7.
What is still shocking for some is that this RX-7 did not blown its rotating engine before the exchange. Rowdy’s garage, the brain behind this build, decided to re -use the rotating engine of the Mazda for a BMW M4 Drag Racer. These builders are essentially as crazy scientists, who combine parts of different automotive species to make bizarre hybrids. We can probably thank “Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift” for inspiring such an unconventional mix of American muscle and Japanese tuner culture.
This is not the first time that we have seen strange motorcycle waps. There has been a first-gen Ford Mustang with a Ferrari engine, in addition to other strange combinations. These projects usually cause mixed reactions, insulting purists, but fascinating those who appreciate the ingenuity and courage.
What makes this Hellcat RX-7 controversial is that it started as a unspoilt, low mileage with only one previous owner. Mazda enthusiasts will probably upset this fact, because it looks like desecrating a sacred automotive icon. On the other hand, Mopar fans may be more forgiving, since it is their beloved engine that does the shocking.
A Hellcat V8 fit into a car that was originally designed for a compact rotating engine is not a small performance. Rowdy’s garage has already succeeded in getting the huge engine in the RX-7’s Bay, although the car is not completely ready to roar to life or still go on the road. If so, we eagerly expect how colossal the burnouts will be.
This unique build is proof of the unlimited creativity and courage of car enthusiasts. It is a wild merger of Japanese finesse and American brutal power, which promises a driving experience that is certainly just as exciting as it is unconventional.
