Dolly Parton Musical Producers condemn “Realizing” Public Homophobia

The organizers of a Dolly Parton -musical currently Tourt by the VK have issued a statement in which homophobic abuse is convicted that is aimed at the cast during the performances.

In a post on social media, the producers of Here you come again said: “In the light of homophobic comments and abuse aimed at our company, the producers of Here you come again condemn this disgusting behavior in the strongest way.

“People who make such comments are not welcome in our show. They immediately went out of the theater – and will be ejected immediately. We stand against all forms of prejudices and are extremely proud of the inclusiveness and respect that Here you come again celebrates. ”

The intervention comes after Stevie Webb, one of the stars of Here you come againplaced a Tiktok video that promoted incidents of abuse that the cast had endured on the road.

Webb revealed that a performance in the Manchester opera house was temporarily stopped last week after a “woman was so disgusted that there was a gay character.” He said the woman was cast out after a “massive ruckus” in which other members of the audience called her homophobia. ATG Entertainment, which runs the location, told BBC News that it has received a “zero tolerance” approach to abuse.

Webb added that part of the worst abuse had occurred during the performances in London. “I remember a man who shouted the F-[word] Slur, “he said. “It really opened my eyes because we are in such a bubble in this industry. But traveling through the country and seeing how many people literally cannot tolerate to see a gay person depicted on stage – it’s wild. “

Here you come again was originally written for the American audience by double Emmy winner Bruce Vilanch with Gabriel Barre (who also directs) and Tricia Paoluccio (who also plays Dolly). The musical comedy shows the country music singer who looks like a fairy tale to give life lessons in songs to a affected fan. It contains numbers, including Jolene9 to 5And Islands in the current.

The homophobic incidents come as a new bio-musical about Parton, entitled Hello, I’m dollyPrepare itself for an arc on Broadway in 2026, where the country legend writes the music, the book CO-writing and serving as a producer.
